The Legal Operations Manager with Technology Expertise. Legal operations as a discipline has matured significantly over the past decade, but the integration of AI tools into legal workflows has elevated its importance and complexity. The modern legal operations manager is no longer merely responsible for e-billing platforms and matter management systems. They are evaluating and implementing AI-powered contract review tools, overseeing the use of generative AI in legal research and drafting, and managing the data governance questions that arise when legal department work product flows through third-party AI platforms.

The candidates who excel in this role today are those who combine a rigorous understanding of legal department workflow with the ability to evaluate software vendors critically — not taking vendor claims at face value, but interrogating accuracy rates, testing outputs, and assessing the downstream risk created by tool deployment.
